Narrative

The 1790's were brutal years for the Bruniges families who where living in Wentworth Street, Spitalfields. The family of John and Elizabeth Sarah was decimated, assumingly by disease as these where awful times in the East End of London.
John and Elizabeth lost a son Henry in 1790 when he was about 1 year old. Two years later in 1793 they lost a 2 year old daughter Elizabeth and then later in the same year another son William died only months old. The following year in February 1794 John himself died aged only 35. Later the same year in October his wife Elizabeth Sarah died aged 37. They were survived by their three older children Ann (10), John(8) and Martin(7).
The following year 1795, close by and likely in the same building in Wentworth Street, Johns brother George and his wife Martha lost their 2 year old daughter Ann Margaret in February, followed 7 months later in September by another daughter Mary Ann aged 3 years. Then 3 Months later in December of 1795 George and Johns father Martin died at the age of 77 having seen 5 grandchildren and his son and daughter-in-law dying over the previous 5 years.
